Meet Chioma, an Associate in PwC’s Strategy& team. She first joined us on the Strategy& Females of the Future pathway, where she met inspiring women in the team who gave her insight into what a career in strategy consulting is really like. She then returned to the team later in the same year, on the graduate programme.
“Life as an Associate has been - and continues to be - a great learning experience. I’ve been exposed to a range of exciting projects across different sectors, from the gel nail sector right through to auctions for construction machinery. Not only that - I’m also constantly collaborating with and learning from my colleagues, which has been really helpful when approaching new tasks.
In my day-to-day role, I work on a variety of tasks which contribute to client solutions. This often includes undertaking research and analysis and working on the reporting process, helping to shape the deliverable by generating client slides.”
Outside of her day-to-day role, Chioma has also enjoyed getting involved with the extracurricular activities that the firm and Strategy& offers, from social get togethers, to collaborating across teams on different and innovative projects.
“There’s great scope and opportunity to get involved in activities outside of your day-to-day tasks. I’m currently part of Strategy&’s Recruitment team, where I help with outreach activities aimed at prospective applicants and bringing in diverse talent. I have a personal passion for improving diversity in the workplace and so I really enjoy being able to share my knowledge and get involved in this.”
Not only is this something that she enjoys - it’s also something of which Chioma is immensely proud. She’s delighted to be spearheading the introduction of the team’s new Black Talent pathway - a supported recruitment pathway, where participants meet and learn from the team and discover more about them, and what they do. With this in mind, it’s no surprise that Chioma would describe her career as: “exciting, rewarding and enlightening.”
Outside of work, Chioma spends much of her time travelling and watching sports - usually Manchester United’s matches. She’s also been lucky enough to attend tournaments like Wimbledon and the Athletics Championships - which gives her plenty to discuss with her colleagues in the week.
Being part of a friendly and close-knit team is one of the many forms of support that Chioma has received during her time with us.
“Since I joined the firm, I’ve been supported in a number of ways - including cohort-led induction sessions, which helped to solidify my understanding of the core skill sets required by consultants. Additionally, I’ve had personalised training through training provider Kubicle and frequent meetings with my Career Coach which has aided my personal development.”
