Senior Executive Advisor, Strategy& Middle East
Ahmed El Sharkawy is a Senior Executive Advisor with Strategy& based in Cairo, and a member of the firm’s Private Equity and Sovereign Investment Funds practice in the Middle East.
Ahmed focuses on the investment sector serving key family businesses, institutional investors and sovereign wealth funds across the region.
He joined the firm in 2001. During his seven-year tenure, he led numerous restructuring and transformation programs for large public and private corporations across the telecoms and media sectors in the GCC and North Africa.
In 2008, Ahmed joined Qalaa Holding (previously Citadel Capital), and in 2011 was appointed Managing Director. He managed their investments in the transport and logistics, cement and publishing sectors across Egypt, Sudan, Kenya, and Uganda. In 2017, Ahmed founded Fruit Republic, a food processing company headquartered in Egypt. In five years, he grew the company and its service offering to cover over 1000 outlets across on- and off-trade channels. Ahmed rejoined Strategy& in 2023.
He holds an MBA from INSEAD, a master’s degree in Engineering Management from the University of Michigan, and a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the American University in Cairo.
